This is why you must always keep soldiers busy. Their propensity for mischief is boundless. Whilst in Italy in 1943, as the Axis coalition collapsed, the REME stole Mussolini’s boots! They pulled them off of Mussolini’s statue and they are on display at the REME museum in Lynham UK.

The kids and I spent an enjoyable hour at the REME Museum out Chippenham way. Basically the REME love putting winches and hoists on things. I could have spent longer and will go back without the kids. If you listen to and read all the displays etc, it’s a couple of hours.
