I had a nice day today visiting family. We were treated to a chicken lunch which was delicious. The potatoes were cooked using an air fryer oven. They were very tasty and I am thinking of buying an air fryer. My son has “gone off” of certain potato preps – will eat roast and boiled,Continue reading “A new take on potatoes?”

A mundane day.
I had a couple of online meetings today. In between those I deep cleaned the downstairs bathroom/utility room. I also made a soup. I chopped 1 onion, 1 red pepper, 2 sticks of celery and 4 big carrots. I lightly fried them in a sauce pan for 10 minutes and then added 2 pints ofContinue reading “A mundane day.”
Glorious day 2.
It’s amazing how much my spirits have been lifted by the arrival of Spring. I was doing a bit of shopping at the local shopping precinct. Normally a mundane activity but was almost a joy in the sun. I painted 5 garden chairs with black Hammerite paint. I like these chairs. Once you get theContinue reading “Glorious day 2.”
Glorious day.
As we’ve entered British summer time I spent the day tidying up in the garden and putting the garden furniture out. To be honest the chairs need a coat of paint, which is tomorrow’s job. By 3pm I was all set and sat in the sun reading my book. By 3:45 I had to comeContinue reading “Glorious day.”
Useful day today.
I’m annoyed. We had the house re-rendered just before Christmas. I had noticed a wet patch by the front door and it turns out the waste pipe has been broken off and gaffa taped back on! It’s broken off in the fitting so the whole thing will have to be taken apart, which means hackingContinue reading “Useful day today.”
Today was a good day.
I started Noom two weeks ago as I’ve put on weight in lockdown. I’ve lost 7 pounds or half a stone in old money. If I can keep this up I’ll be back to prime condition soon. I also did the usually housekeeping chores and managed to get a small game of Warhammer 40,000 inContinue reading “Today was a good day.”
Mother’s Day
It’s Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday if you prefer. This is the Hallmark approved special day in the UK when children are legally required to buy shonky nonsense for their dear old mum. As usual our kids did the bare minimum and I had to chivvy them in the week to make a card forContinue reading “Mother’s Day”
If I was a wizard …
And I decided to retire, would I be a wazard? I do like a bit of nonsense. It’s been a funny day today. Mostly sunny with occasional showers. Now there is hail about the size of a garden pea. I’ve spent most of the day outside tidying the garden. I should imagine tomorrow will beContinue reading “If I was a wizard …”
Unintended Saturday.
I had plans for today. I was going to carry out some extensive tests with my new pistols. However it was not to be. My son’s Warhammer 40K game arrived and I promised to help him put it together and play a game. It took us about 2.5 hours to assemble all of the SpaceContinue reading “Unintended Saturday.”
I like driving in my car …
My daughter asked if we could go for a drive around the neighborhood tonight. Other than a few trips to the shop I hadn’t driven any significant distance since about a year ago. We drove for about an hour and a half, just around the local area. I had a burn up the ring roadContinue reading “I like driving in my car …”
