This is why you must always keep soldiers busy. Their propensity for mischief is boundless. Whilst in Italy in 1943, as the Axis coalition collapsed, the REME stole Mussolini’s boots! They pulled them off of Mussolini’s statue and they are on display at the REME museum in Lynham UK.

Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Museum.
The kids and I spent an enjoyable hour at the REME Museum out Chippenham way. Basically the REME love putting winches and hoists on things. I could have spent longer and will go back without the kids. If you listen to and read all the displays etc, it’s a couple of hours. Also a caféContinue reading “Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Museum.”
The Tank Museum.
We went on a family trip to Bovington, UK today to visit the Tank Museum. They have quite a lot of “tank chats” on YouTube if you are interested.
Slightly overwhelmed.
I’ve taken on too many projects! I’ve got What a Tanker! WW3 Team Yankee, O Group, Kings of War, Stargrave and Star Wars Imperial Assault on the go. Not to mention gardening and garage projects. Plus it’s half term and I’ve promised the kids a few days out and about. I think I need toContinue reading “Slightly overwhelmed.”
Throw it in the bin.
We spent several hours decluttering the kitchen at the weekend. It felt good to get organized. I found an over-engineered pasta pot that my mum gave me in 2012 for my birthday. It still has the card attached. It was nice to read the card and hear her voice in my head (she died 2018).Continue reading “Throw it in the bin.”
Star Wars Imperial Assault Game.
I bought this game some time ago in a sale. I’ve never played it. My son found it in the loft and asked to play it. This filled me with trepidation! You see, my son has no truck with following the rules. He selected Darth Vader as his character and UPGRADED HIM! It’s great toContinue reading “Star Wars Imperial Assault Game.”
An hour’s fun.
It was like I was a kid again, only better. I bought 3 Zvezda tanks in 15mm scale. A British Matilda, an American Sherman and a German Ferdinand. I’d not bought from Zvezda before but had heard they have a great reputation, so I was confident of a good product. However what I got wasContinue reading “An hour’s fun.”
An error, I believe.
I’m in pain. Today was my first full day back at work since Christmas. I commuted on my e-bike and this morning there were only 2 bars on the power indicator. I thought I would have enough power to get to and from work. I put the motor into “tour”, which is low assistance, andContinue reading “An error, I believe.”
Busy day.
I have cut the grass, washed 4 machines of laundry, prepared lunch for 3 days and made 20 foot of hedgerow for war-gaming from green scouring pads and hot glue. Now to prepare dinner.
Scrub a dub dub.
We did a deep clean of our bedroom today. This is due to me finding “carpet moths” over the last week. We had an infestation a few years ago. There always seemed to be 1 or 2 moths in the front room no matter how many I swatted. We eventually found a “nest” under theContinue reading “Scrub a dub dub.”
