I’m a bit fed up with feeling tired even after a night’s sleep. I’m going to research eating for energy and, intermittently, blog about it. One of the first things I see is to drink more water and avoid sugar, so that will be my focus for this week.

Mindful eating.
I’ve been working on mindful eating habits for a couple of weeks now and, to be honest, it’s hard for this old dog to learn a new trick! It’s not really a trick, it’s just that I, like many others, take food for granted. People in the West are now dieing from obesity due toContinue reading “Mindful eating.”
It’s gone slightly wrong.
I went for a bike ride today. I wanted to do a circuit near my house as I’m lucky to have some good cycling infrastructure and quiet roads. I’d been out for about 30 minutes. I had a good cycle down to the river and I’d hit 30 mph at one stage. I’d pootled alongContinue reading “It’s gone slightly wrong.”
Losing Weight – some thoughts.
In my life I’ve followed various weight loss programs. All have been successfully but I tend to slide back into bad habits and put the weight back on! Lockdown has seen me pile on the pounds and made me think about successful weight loss. Here are some thoughts for you. 1. Fully engage with theContinue reading “Losing Weight – some thoughts.”
Another quote.
A journalist asked Arnold why he was always smiling in the gym. Arnold replied “I’m smiling because I know that ever rep I do, every set I complete, every weight I lift moves me closer to my goal.” Arnold Schwarzenegger is a hero of mine. He shows that if you put in the work youContinue reading “Another quote.”
Lighter nights.
I saw this tree on my walk today. It appears to be dead but I expect it is teaming with insects, bugs and creepy-crawlies. Judging by the damage to the bark I think the birds have been enjoying the bounty. I’m tempted to buy some grass and flower seeds to spread on the verge ofContinue reading “Lighter nights.”
It’s been a month since I inflicted “Baseball Finger” on myself when taking my sock off. I have a significant swelling/hard lump on the first knuckle. The medical advice is to keep it straight so the ligament can reconnect. The medical advice also says the swelling my not go away, I may not get fullContinue reading “A month ago …”
It’s worth it in the end.
My injured finger is giving me lots of trouble. The main problem was that with the extra hand washing I had to re-dress the temporary splint several times per day. I decided to buy something more permanent from Amazon and ended up buying 2, just so that I can wash and dry them regularly. IContinue reading “It’s worth it in the end.”
Thank goodness it’s Friday!
Felt a bit rough today. My get up and go has got up and went! Managed to get the children started on their home schooling and then I went for a walk. The walk seems to have energised me a bit but I think I may have a cold. Fish and chips tonight, so IContinue reading “Thank goodness it’s Friday!”
New Year, New Me!
Slightly tongue in cheek but my fitness is shocking following my postponed hip operation and lockdown. I’m the fattest I’ve been in ages and I have hatched a plan. It’s walking. I’ve got a pedometer on my phone and the app says I need to walk 6000 steps every day to use 2000 calories. IContinue reading “New Year, New Me!”
