A poem for mother.

I’ve been thinking about my mum today. She died in 2018 of old age. I was doing the 100 things list where you think about a subject and try to write 100 words or sentences to do with the subject. Repetition is allowed. As you get towards the higher numbers you dig deep into your subconscious. I only made it to 46 things to do with my mum but this poem came out of the exercise.

Fire pit.

“My mum loved chickens, canaries, budgies and ducks.

She loved any animal that tweets, squawks or clucks.

Except for vultures, she hated those fucks.”

Practice makes perfect (or thereabouts).

I’ve spent the morning shooting air pistols as part of several online competitions. This comes off of the back of a month of practice with various pistols. I’ve fired over 700 shots whilst concentrating on different aspects of shooting.

CO2 powered Luger P08 replica.

One of the stand out moments was getting my Luger replica out. This pistol is not very accurate but is sooo much fun to shoot. The target above shows 9 shots aimed at the centre. Great fun 😁

Sunny Saturday!

Hard to believe it’s still February. I was working in our garden in my t-shirt, as t-shirted neighbors passed by, this morning. I was making a start on tidying up.

I’d pruned a tree late last year but I’d left the wood to dry off a bit as it was hard to cut when fresh and the council were not collecting garden waste during lockdown.

Now the green bin is full and will be collected on Tuesday. The garden is somewhat tidied and, once the shops are back to normal, I’ll order a garden table and we can have sandwiches in the sunshine!

I’ve shared “A Glimpse of Yosemite” below.

I’ve shared a follower’s blog below. I’ve shared the post A Glimpse of Yosemite as it has some very nice photos of Yosemite national park in America. The blogger has other posts and photos of hikes they have done and I’ve enjoyed living vicariously through their posts.

Go check them out.

He’s one of us, he’s a Goodfella.

Goodfella.

I’m reminded of the time I was a Goodfella and we had a gang meeting.
There was Micky Eyes
ME “What’s up fella”
Pete the Killer
PtK “I took care of that thing for you”
Sally Balls’ brother Fat Andy
FA “Salute”
And Jimmy Ninety Two Times. He got that name because he said everything 92 times
J92x “I’m going to get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers get the papers”
We had him whacked for being annoying!

Small steps, small victories, it adds up to something bigger than its parts.

HW 75 air pistol.

I resolved to fire 50 pellets every day at 6 yards distance to try to improve my shooting. I’ve focused on various aspects of the shooting cycle such as trigger pull, breath control, psychology etc. I’ve managed to do it most days for about 30 days.

Today I made a conscious effort to aim for the bullseye. I had previously aimed for the middle circles which are about 4cm across. The bullseye is about 0.5cm across. I would be happy with shots in the middle but I wanted to get at least 1 in 5 shots on the bullseye.

Not a target I shot today.

I managed to get something like 1 in 10 in the bullseye but most significant was that I got something like 22 of 25 in the middle circles. It felt good and a lot of the training is becoming second nature. Small steps have lead to overall improvement.

Roadmap out of lockdown.

Gravel path.

Some light at the end of the tunnel. We should soon be allowed to have family around for food and conversation. Hopefully by the end of March I’ll be able to go to the shooting range again.

With luck we can go to a restaurant for my son’s birthday at the end of April. And by the end of June we may be allowed to visit Harry Potter World that we booked 2 years ago!

Fingers crossed 🀞
